Well, what did you expect?

Cars got cheaper, mods got cheaper, social media is stronger now than then and trends change, etc.
I know of some older guys doing dumb things too (28 here) so it's not limited to the 17yr olds

Having been involved with this community since the beginning, I noticed this happening starting a number of years ago. I think when the AP2 got to be more affordable for second owners, there was a divisive arrogance that cropped up. In the beginning it was a community of S2000 owners, this changed by the few who felt that the current value of their car made them more elite than the rest. When we see each other as part of a fraternal group of S2000 owners again, the community will be much improved.

It's not that they don't know what a wave means, it's that they don't see you waving since they are too busy texting.

Young and old corvette owners wave. I think waves were just never built into the s2000s DNA. It's all about who's car rocks the more expensive wheel or who's car is the most slammed.

You know, I broke the s2k out and took a nice Sunday morning drive last week. Heading down 66, coming the opposite way was silverstone/red ap1, top down (50 deg), with a younger (than me) driver. He waved first, I waved back. My silverstone/black ap1 passed by him. Two of the best cars on the road, period.

I think everything is going to be ok.

Last spring a red S2000 flashed me. I thought a cop was up ahead but the driver was just saying "hello". I thought about it after the fact and wished I would have flashed them back...

No ill will on my part but maybe they thought what people are posting here "F*cking S2000 sucks because people with less money now have them."

Life is what we make it.

Yeah pretty much, but not all change is good though.

Having owned a Corvette in the past I do agree with the statement that they are more likely to wave at each other and it wasn't really an S2000 thing in the past, though you would think that as S2000's get more rare the owners would be excited to see other ones on the road.

I'm not a fan of flashing for a couple of reasons, just a simple wave or peace sign would be fine with me.
