Default What happens when an S2000 flips?

I would have posted this in my first thread, but I wanted some different attention.

What happens when an S2000 flips? The salesman told me that the windshield frame would support the car. I find this VERY hard to believe. Do the rear roll bars extend out when the car turns upside down?

Thanks all.

the a-pillar has a built in roll bar, so the windshield frame does support the car. the rear roll hoops also help, but if you sit taller than those hoops, you might have a little problem. overall, the s2000 is safe car even when its rolled over.

First, im sure you will be badly hurt. The windshield and rollbars will help but I still feel that you head will scrape through the asphalt. The slack of the seatbelt will raise you up several inches so if you are a tall person, that makes it worse.

Eek. That's what I was thinking. I'm 6'2.

How many people have seen photos of flipped S2000's? Is it very common?

I have a very good friend who unfortunately found himself in an S2000 that ended up upside down. He's about 6 feet tall and walked away from the car. He hurt his back a little and scraped his knee when he dropped out of the car after undoing his seat belt.

Someone posted a few pics of his rolled S2K a few months ago. The car came to a rest upside down, and the interesting thing was that the hoops were in the air; it was the windshield and the rear of the trunk that the car was resting on. So if your head sticks out a little past the hoops, don't worry. It's the line from the trunk to the top of windshield that you have to worry about. FYI, the windshield didn't collapse and the driver wasn't injured (though it wasn't a high speed accident). I'm going to try and find the thread now.... BRB!
