Default What to keep an eye on for a 2006 S2000?

Guys,

I am planning to get a 2006 S2000 this weekend... Is there anything that I can do to make sure the car is OK?? like what does it sound, or how does it feel or ext.

Thanks

If something feels off or if there are weird noises then something is wrong. It's just like any other car with a tighter gear box. The clutch might feel 'lose' when you tap on it but that's just how they are. Also if you're buying it from a private party, TAKE IT TO A MECHANIC so they can inspect it!!! That is a must!

Good luck. Just look for oil leak, etc.

I have a question. Last weekend, I pickup a used '07 thats has 8700 miles. I noticed everytime I start the car up when it is cold, the car is very loud (and sometimes a strong vibration). I had a 350z before but it wasn't this loud.

Is this normal?

Thanks,
Tony

Check out the person who sells it. Is he/she the meticulous type who takes care of his cars? One owner? Any track days? Body/bumpers repainted?

Test drive a new one and compare the sound, suspension, gearbox, feel etc...

If the seller is 60 year old guy with multiple cars who drove the S only on weekends, kept it garaged, low miles, drive and feel like new, then you might not even need to run a Carfax check...

If you have to ask then get it checked out by someone who knows what to look for.

bingo....except the previous owner in my case was 70, and the car only had 4500 miles

I would NEVER buy this car from a early/mid 20s kid....you know it saw redline from the showroom floor

I'd say, drive it with a cold tranny. If it grinds & is notchy from 1st to 2nd, remember one thing, it wont go away with time. Mine drives me nuts from time to time.

Check the secret compartment to see if they left a few c-notes inside.
