Default "what kind of car is that?"

i was surprised today when a new volvo pulled up next to me at a light and asked the question that i used to hear all the time...
i guess the S badges got his curiosity. when i told him its a honda, he wanted to know all about the car- hadnt had that type of discussion for a couple of months now and it was nice to meet a stranger that way!!
still dont see many of these cars here (especially manhattan beach to marina del rey).
anyone else still getting the question?

Yea I still get it ...

1) Guy pulls up next to me in a Jaguar with his wife and kids in it ... says, "That's the new spyder right?"

2) Went to buy groceries and got stopped at a redlight ... a man gets out of this car, sticks his head in my window and says, "Those things run about $46k-50k right?" ...

I get the whole "how much do those things run" all the time. Does anybody else get that? I've never had a car that got that question so much in my life. My normal answer is "right around 60k"

I have a suggestion on how to answer that question. In the movie "Lost in America" Albert Brooks has to take a job as a grade school crossing guard, but he still thinks back wistfully on the Mercedes he wanted to buy before being fired from his high paying advertising job and losing he entire nestegg. While helping some kids across the street, he notices a Mercedes exactly like the one he wanted to buy. He walks up and asks the driver "how do you like it?" The driver responds, "What's not to like?" The look on Brooks' face is so funny.

I always hear "What kind of car is that?" Sometimes you hear wives asking their husband in the car next to me "Honey what is that?" Some men ask if the car come with a VTEC engine. I was sitting out front with my girlfriend on Thursday and we watched kids walked by on the street and stopped and walked around the car. They came back with about 4 more of their friends for more looks.
