What makes a successful car club?

Great suggestions guys. I hope they'll keep coming. The bottom up stuff is right on target, I think, when it comes to a club (or really, any volunteer-dependent organization.)
I just hope we can keep from stinking up this discussion with why (or perhaps why not) S2KCA has such problems and what the recurring excuses (or perhaps explanations) are. We've discussed S2KCA to death.
Maybe it's part of this to discuss more than leadership structure, maybe leadership strategy is a valuable thing to explore. Why people choose to produce for a leader or why they don't isn't about laziness, I think.
I'm more interested in what would make a great car club: structure, leadership, costs, benefits, activities, results and those intangibles like pride of affiliation. Let's be forward looking.
