I dont really think that there is a maximum temperature because the faster you go the cooler it is!!

MsPerky--I've spent time in Kinston and eastern NC, too. Was there during the flooding--what a mess. Still miss eastern NC and that wonderful BBQ!
Yes, the BBQ is fab...the Skylight Inn in Ayden routinely ranks as one of the top BBQ joints in the country. Yummy...but I also like Buddy's outside Kinston on Rte 11. Need to get back down there!

I used to like the Skylight Inn, although last time I went there I got so, that place is out of my book from now on. The best place to get BBQ anywhere around here now is Chaps in Kinston off HWY 258. If you've never been there, make sure you go next time you come to town, you won't be sorry.

Man has this gotten WAAAY off topic.

Ok, since no one from Arizona has responded yet...

My top is always down. Last year I drove around on a 113 degree day. I did get a pretty bad sun burn since my SPF4 didn't do much and I did have the A/C on. It was a humid day in late July/early August when our monsoon season starts.

So, no MAX. I have driven top up 3 times. Driving home from the dealership, it was sprinkling; the Devil's Highway, since it snowed and was raining a little; and in July last year since I thought it was going to rain (which it did not and pissed me off since I would have enjoyed the cooler low 100s for the day...)

And I also use the aircon while the top is down.

Here in Sydney it is often in the 90s and occasionally in the 100s in summer and I still drive with the top down.

Nevertheless I prefer driving on a cool night to driving on a sunny day.

The top is only up when it rains. And living in SanDiego means it is hardly up!

Somewhere around 90 degrees, it is better to keep the top up. I reject the notion of top down plus air conditioner running, which seems to be a blatant waste of gasoline and horsepower. My biggest problem is that, at 6 foot 2, my head protrudes above the windshield, which prevents my wearing a hat while driving. Unfortunately, the entire top of my head is unprotected by hair, which leads to a bit of sunburn in this powerful South Carolina sunshine.
