Just like Walkabt I drive with the top down no matter how hot it is ( A/C on very hot days). I will drive with the top up if it is raining, which is rare in Arizona.

No maximum temp - just turn the AC on.
Wear a hat and sunscreen for long drives.
Sit on a towel if humidity is a problem.
Go faster if it is raining

Only time I put the top up is when parking because of birds or a West Texas dust-storm blowing through.

Sounds fair, but only if you take half our rain too.

If SC is anything like the Gulf Coast states, especially Mississippi, the temp can get into the 90's quite easily. The big difference (from Kuwait) is that the humidity is so freakishly high, you can swim in it. California can get in the low 100's, but there is very little humidity, and you can tolerate it for a good while. In Mississippi, you are dying the second you leave an air-conditioned room. My first trip there was in 95 degree heat with 100% humidity, is was so bad, the windows weren't just fogging up running the AC, water was beginning to form beads on the inside of the window.

My brief forays into Japan during the summer are the same way, they get to the mid-upper 80's with terrible humidity, and you start sweating nonstop like crazy no matter what the temp is outside.

Here in Sac it gets into the 110's every once in a while, and I have no problem with the top down, and I have black interior, the trick is, to put the top up when you go inside somewhere, and since I have auto start, all I have to do is leave the air on, and start the car 6-7 minutes before I get in, then go th=o the car put the top down, and it's all good.

As for the humidity thing, I would much rather sweat in 90 degree weather, then feel like my face was shoved in an oven in 115 degree weather.

Where exactly is the logic in using an AC system with the top down??

If it is over 95 it doesn't go out, because I don't put the top up.
