What is this S2000 worth ?
I wouldn't touch it for one cent more than $7,000. I'd probably aim for lower.
Flood damage? It's been rolled? The engine has been over-revved? The top is bad? This puts the car in the "poor" category. A "fair" gets $11,000- this is miles away from being "fair".

Not sure where you are located but here (SoCal) there are a couple of decent 00's to be had for around $15-16k. I got my 02 just recently for $18.5.
I think I got a great deal and it may not be easy to find again, but it does seem like you can find something much better for the money you have. In any case, $12k for the ride you mentioned is way too much.

Sorry, didn't see the clear title part; even so, with a salvage history it's the same in a potential buyers eyes so I hope you don't intend to ever try selling it later down the road. I just honestly think it's going to cost you massive headaches and drain your wallet. You're better off spending 15-17k on a used S2K...
If the guy would take $7k it might be doable.
If you're serious, there is really only one way to do it.
Call the guy. Tell him when he's ready to sell the car for $7500, he has your number. Give him a week or two... he'll realize that it's NOT worth 12k and you'll get a phone call.

Well it's not a slavage title.. It's a clear title with salvage history.
it just means that the car was salvaged, reconditioned, then the title was "washed."
IMO, it is the same as a salvage title to me.
