What is this S2000 worth ?
I found this s2000 for sale. It's a black s2000 with 95k miles on it.
THE BAD
needs new top: has 2 small tears and back window is flat looking
needs a new left fender
needs new back bumper
(also needs new paint job IMO)
check engine light is on(guy says the code is from one of the coils)
He also told me the head was rebuilt once(He denied overev but I can tatste it)
Car has salvage HISTORY(carfax says car was rolled and has flood history when I check it with carfax)
THE GOOD
it'a a s2000
it runs great no hickups and shifts well.
Besides the fact that it looks rough it seem to be in good mechanical shape
What should a fair price be fo this car ?
If I buy it I plan to replace the bumper, fender, top and get it painted so consider this.

Oh man, stay far far away from this pile! It sounds like the guy beat the shit out of this poor S, you're just asking for trouble if you purchase this vehicle. However, if you absolutely are set on buying it - I would not pay over 8-9k for it, given the salvage title, condition and mileage and assuming it's a MY00, which you didn't state....
Well it's not a slavage title.. It's a clear title with salvage history.
Yeah it's a 2000 model.
here are some pics of the car

Anybodyelse feel free to speak out to see what you think it's worth.

Sorry, didn't see the clear title part; even so, with a salvage history it's the same in a potential buyers eyes so I hope you don't intend to ever try selling it later down the road. I just honestly think it's going to cost you massive headaches and drain your wallet. You're better off spending 15-17k on a used S2K...
The only thing that SCARES me is the top. The body doesnt bother me too much. Every s2000 I have looked at has some kind of defect in the body so this is in some way a chance to get a s2000 with a new paint job.
I'm going to wait a day and then I'll let you guyz know how much he wants for it. (I want to see some more opinions first)

....wow.
It's amazing to think that car is only five years old. I mean, this had to be someone doing a science experiment.
Let me ask... are you buying this heap because you can't afford a better S, or because you want a bargin? If you really want an S and can't spend the money for a quality used ($18k min), then this could be an option. I've seen even junkyard cars turned into nice rides again... it just takes extreme patience. However, if you can afford a car in at least average condition, you're going to save yourself many headaches.
At any rate, to answer your original question... I'd say anywhere from $7500-9000 for the car. Much of it depends on interrior quality.

I have around $18k(of course I'd like to be able not to spend it all) to work with but I'm thinking I can get this car back to perfect for around $2000-3000 (that would be with me doing most of the work on it)

The top alone is going to cost you a fortune, you'll need a rivet gun to install it and it's a royal pain in the ass, you practically have to remove all interior trim - I wouldn't do it myself anyway if only for the sake of wanting it done properly by an experienced installer. Anyway, the top in addition to the fender, rear and front (the front looks to be damaged to me, fitment might be an issue without replacing it) bumper and paint job would cost quite a bit. Not to mention the check engine light; I'd definitely pull the codes and see what they are first. So then after all repairs and cosmetics you've still got an 00 S2 with 95k miles on the clock.....but, it's still an S - your call
That would depend if you need to replace the entire top or just the skin. There is a thread in the forums right now about replacement tops with a rear glass window and a nice selection of colors for $685...check it out; http://cabrioworld.com/secure/detail...56&modelID=315
Here is a link to install instructions for the glass window upgrade, it'll give you an idea as to the install difficulty and such; http://liquidiq.com/S2000/Glass%20Top%20In...%20Ver%202x.pdf
