What security system is protecting your S?
I've done my searching on the site already, and have narrowed it down between the Clifford and Compustar pager systems. From what I've read, the Compustar seems to be the way to go.. but I like the pager unit for the Clifford more and I've read it's much more durable. Also, my friend keeps trying to sway my decision toward Clifford. Please voice your opinion on this issue if you have experience with either or both which would be GREAT! On ebay they have brand new Compustar 2WSS-AS systems for ~$270 for buy it now. It doesn't seem too bad to me...
Any info would be great!

I have compustar on my S and it kicks ass! I live on the third floor and I can still unlock and lock and check the status on my car using my remote. and don't just use the buy it now to buy it for 270 +shipping. I got mine for 220 + 15 shipping. And while you are at it get motion sensor too if you don't wanna get your seats stolen
. That's what I did.

I have a proximity sensor on my car now, but it is by Viper... however a member on the board has retained his Viper's proximity sensor for use with his Compustar. So hopefully it will work with mine
I've also read that the SS, although it's longer range, doesn't have as good of reception compard to the FW. Anyone can clarify this?

That is nice Xviper!
But I'm getting it more for peace of mind. I live in an apartment complex where I was subjected to a hit and run a couple months back, and since I spend most of my time inside my apartment studying or what not, I'd like to take a quick look outside if this were to happen again. Having my car tell me it's getting abused is better than it nothing
. If I have 100 false alarms a day, I'd much rather deal with the extra exercise I got than missing another hit and run and having to pay the damages again myself

Is a garage an option for you?
100 false alarms a day is not a good thing. Not only will it annoy your neighbors, but if your alarm is always going off, people (including yourself) will tend to ignore it.

Okay, I was exaggerating a bit...
I'm sure it wouldn't go off that many times. But if it did, it would have a good reason to. And if I were in class (I ride the bus to school) one of my roommates could hang onto the pager unit in case it were to ever go off. Garage is not an option, but I will be moving to New Orleans after the semester, so hopefully a garage may be possible then

I have an Alpine SEC-150R, with the viper digital tilt sensor.
It started falsing a lot about a month after I got it. Found out it was the tilt sensor. Had the sensor replaced. A week later it started falsing again.
So I ditched the tilt sensor and now it NEVER falses. Still has shock, proximity, and entrypoints. I figured that the glass sensor option would be a waste on this car since the proximity sensor can easily pull double duty for this.
If it had a pager unit like the ones mentioned above, it'd be damn near perfect.
