I bought the S for three reasons, equally rated: it's a convertible, a Honda, and a sports car.

I hadn't been able to buy a car "just for me" until the S, and I think I'll probably not have the opportunity to buy another sports car any time soon, so I'm keeping this one for a while. I'll probably get a DD at some point, and someday I'd like to add an NSX or maybe a 930 to the stable, but I'm keeping the S2000 forever.

The previous poster hit it on the head for me. I paid for the S in cash and have no aspirations or thoughts of 'trading up'. Its fun, its reliable and it has good performance. Maybe at some point in the future I'll add something with an exotic streak (Ferrari 328 or 80s P car) but I think the S will be around with me for some time.

My route was Citroen AX - Del Sol - S2000.

I think that qualifies me as a JDM tuner bar the NSX...

Unfortunately, It did not feel as amazing as everyone hyped it up to be when I drove one. Maybe my car is just too far along to compare now(or the lumbar support the guy had was killing my back), but it just didn't feel as fast or nearly as fun to drive. It also seems to me the rate of improvement per dollar spent on the Elise/Exige is significantly worse too. I don't know, I've just never seen it as a worthwhile jump. Something faster like a GT3 makes more sense to me. Or even buying something like a Radical, Stohr DSR or F1000/2000 car. Maybe I just haven't seen and/or driven any incredibly fast Elise/Exiges. I think I fit right in between Hardcore Lightweight handling and Baller Pimp Track... Actually, probably just the baller pimp track without the baller pimp part...
Whow, how can you know what I wanted to write?!

thanks so I dont have to type it all anymore

Absolutely same feeling about the Elise...dont know why though...maybe cause I dont like the handling/engine/chassis layout of the car.

Still have my silver "MGB Forever" key fob my wife gave me 20 years ago...

I love the ability to work on the S2000, the fact that when I do something stupid and break the car, repair is actually easier than on the MG (71 MGB, chrome bumper, armstrong shocks, SU carburetors, rebuilt engine, etc.).

Still have the MG under a car cover waiting on engine rebuild, 1 3/4 SU carbs, new wings and aluminum hood. New rack steering in the attic.

Money saved to rebuild the 'B to original racer specs went to the S2000 instead. Always wanted to run on the track, but the S was safer, more power, better handling, etc. Guess I'll have this one forever if I don't roll it up into a ball on the track...

Roadsters are great, and for me the S is an evolution and one of the best ever. 'Course, I still want a TR4A and a Austin Healey 3000...

New to this site. Just purchased my first S2000 two weeks ago....stoked! I am a family guy with 3 kids, so I'm excited to have an alternative to our minivan.

I've been a Honda guy since I could drive. My Honda evolution....1989 CRX HF > 1993 Civic Coupe > 1996 Accord 4-dr > 2003 Pilot EX-L > 2005 Odyssey EX-L > 2000 S2000. From a 2 seater in 1989....back to a 2 seater in 2007!

Great site with great information!
