For many yrs i've tried to answer that question ...and after all this time ...Still dont have an answer , so if I had to replace my S it could only be for another S ...nothing ..and mean nothing else will do ...I've been spoiled ...the S is a keeper for life

This is what I will probably do on the sad day that my S-Wing is on life support in terms of maintenance.

I plan to keep the S as long as possible, but if it had to be replaced, the contenders would likely be a Miata with the folding hardtop or a Z4 (unlikely). The hard top would be nice just for parking on the street as I have had my top slashed before. I don't care about "ultimate" performance but about the fun to drive factor and the Miata has that is spades.

Ive seen how this thread has grown, and I've given the topic some thought, for me I dont think there's any other car within the price range I'd like to pay that could give me happiness the way the S does...

Realistically - NSX, Cayman S, 996 GT3 or Boss 302. No interest in Corvettes, I live in Michigan by the GM proving grounds and I've seen more ZR1's than S2000's this year (seriously).

But I paid only 11k for my S, and those are really the only cars I think I would enjoy more. The cheapest of the bunch (NSX) would easily run 25k for a good example. That says a lot.

No replacing. An addition.
Cayman... maybe.
Something with room for outdoor adventure, and four wheel drive maybe...

If I can afford it, a 997 GT3 but would also love to have a 930 w/ the factory side vents in addition to keeping my s2000.

A Ferrari 355 w/ a Tubi would have made the list but the costs of maintaining it and repairs keeps it off the list.
