My front one came off with no damage. It was very tuff though. Came off in many pieces. Looks like they we bending the old emblem to much and it gouged the finish. The adhesive is tough, but does come off with no damage. You lucky you didn't have them do the sides. That is an experience I do not want to do again.

I did the emblem install myself too. While it's a real pain in the butt, they can be taken off without messing up the paint like that. I had one small 'mistake' when I did mine, but it was covered up by the new emblem. Definitely take that back and get them to fix it.

That's BS! I removed the stock emblems myself and put on the same emblems you got and I tell ya, the stock ones are easy to remove.

Not much area actually have the adhesive on the back of the stock one. I was able to pry off the emblem with my fingers and finish it off with dental floss. Using a screw driver and dinging the car in the process is totally unnecessary.

Yep. I know they could've done it right. But WHAT NOW?

Repaint the whole bumper and risk a mismatch?

Airbrush the area only and risk a mismatch with paint/clearcoat?

Other options???

I would meet with the dealer to see what they recommend. A good painter that does airbrushing should be able to match the paint. You may still see some flaws, but it should be hard to see unless you get really close. This seems to be a better and simpler option to me than repainting the whole front end.

I would ask to meet with the painter beforehand so that you can get a comfort level of what the repair will look like when it's done. The painter should also be able to tell you if airbrushing will solve the issue or if it needs to be totally repainted.

Bottom line, I would express your displeasure to the General Manager of the dealership and ask them how they plan to remedy the situation. Remain calm, but firm that you are extremely upset that your car was damaged while in the dealer's care. It seems to me that if the service technician would have followed the Honda installation instructions properly, your car wouldn't have been damaged. I would also ask for compensation for screwing up your "brand new" car. A Titanium shift knob, oil changes, and a refund on the cost of the emblems are some things that come to mind.

Good luck! Let us know how it goes.

Thanks.

I'll talk to the dealer on monday. I'll report back. Here's another photo to illustrate that these are not HUGE nicks.

I changed mine myself and had no problem I used waxed dental floss to take them off. I agree that the glue is strong, but damn, they suck!
