New is better, that would be AP2 by coincidence.
True, but #1 is better than #2 Ap1, Ap2. 2 comes in second place.

The Ford Mustang of the 1980's was "New" but it can't compare to a '67 Mustang. New is sometimes better.

please disregard this post and continue the discussion.

Be smart, drive both and pick the best car. There are differences and people are so pationate about these cars each loves thiers and so your going to get good information but not good advise.

Drive them, then choose. Take your time..., Don't rush there are lots of cars for sale.

I have driven my friend's 05 many times but I don't know how the lack of a throttle cable feels on the S. However, I can tell you the clutch delay is odd if you are not used to it and it feels like the rpms hang between shifts a bit more than my '03. The extra toque is nice and it rides softer than my '03 when I had the stock suspension on it. He just has to drive both and see which fits him better, I found the '03 to fit me better than the '04-'05. Didn't someone do a review after owning an AP1 and an AP2?

EDIT: Here it is

The newer the better, IMO. AP1 vs AP2 should not be a consideration. Other than the RPM's and some handling traits, the cars are not that different.

That's the AP2's heavier flywheel that causes the hang - it has more inertia.

if it's going to be his daily driver, get the newest one he can afford. if it's a weekend/track toy, have him test drive both to see what he likes best.
