Default What's the S2000's Closest Competitor?

Please note that I am assuming that all cars, including the S2000, are 2008's. Please don't comment if you are ignorant of the specs of these cars as I have not included them with the assumption that we are all car freaks and can quote the hp and 0-60 times in our sleep.

Please feel free to comment on why you made your decision.

**Revision**

Please compare the cars STOCK to STOCK

350Z, but in hindsight, I should have selected the Red Line/GXP. The new Z's outpace us a bit. It seems like the General was trying to one up the S2000 when they designed their Kappa twins performance versions. I don't think this first iteration succeeds in taking the S2000 down, but you have to give credit where it's due- and those cars have respectable stock power.

Voted for the Kappa boy's. For me the cars that are not vert's are not competitors.

Yea, 260 hp out of a 4 banger and 0-60 in 5.5 seconds. I really like the Sky's design and interior lay out. Nice car. And fully loaded it's less than $33,000.

I don't think that the Boxster is a competitor just because of it's rediculous price tag.

The performace is close, but it's $20,000 more! That's just redicilous!

I'm suprised at all the 350Z votes. The car is so much larger and faster than the S2000. Is it just because it's Nissan?

The Kappa boys are 260 Turbocharged 2 litre engines. we're still kings of NA horespower to litre. plus we don't get a below average consumer reports. i love how the sky looks in the front but i feel it's a downgrade with a small trunk and no power top. i'll keep my AP1

I voted for Pontiac/Saturn. With the Z/Mustang you did not make a distinction if you were referring to the vert's or coupes??? They tend to lose some of thier performance when you get the vert model.

I voted for the 350. I've always kinda viewed them as the mortal enemy. Boxter and Miata would probably tie for 2nd, I just can't see myself cross shopping a S2000 with the GM twins.

The Sky Redline and Solstice are our closest competition anymore. The Porsche has always been more expensive, but now its faster too. The 350Z is probably second closest, but its not as close in spirit as the Kappa cars. If you look at these cars on the track and autocross, the GXP and Redline are the cars in the S2000's class that beat S2000s.
