Default whats up with the shift knobs?

Alot of people buy after market shift knobs, i would understand this is they were doing it because they want a better looking shift knob, but some people say they buy new ones because they are "better". Except for the way they feel and look, how can they be better?

The 2002 knob is pretty cool, but I can see people with 2001 and earlier models wanting something with a knob on the end to give a more solid hand feel than the stalk-like stock shifter...

The main attraction is the extra heft provided when you buy a heavier than stock knob. It makes a distinct difference to the feel of your gear changes. Many people claim it makes them shift smoother or easier.

The aftermarket knobs are countersunk so they sit lower than the stock knob does. This shortens the shift.

What more do you need? Feel and looks are good enough reasons for me.... throw in the shorter shift (countersunk), and that it doesn't seem to get as hot in the sun.... and you have the reasons why I got the voodoo knob....

Oh man, someone that says they own multiple Ferrari's, BMW's, Mercedes, even a Honda and who knows what it will be tomorrow, and don't even know what a countersunk shiftknob is!

BTW, what it means is that the knob screws down all the way with the threads inside of it, while the stock knobs screw on the top of the threads with a nut under it to hold it tight.
