Default What's up with side strake?

I have the factory side strakes dealer installed on my car and the one on the right side has fallen off twice. The first time it was crushed by a car behind me and this latest time, just marred badly.

The dealer has happily installed a new the first time and I still haven't made it to the shop for the second one.

It concerns me that these things may not be supported by mounts very well. I've considered getting a side skirt, but suspect that I'll have the same problems and then its out of my pocket to get it fixed.

Has anyone else experienced similar problems - any fixes?

Mine is stuck on nicely on the car, though it's not uncommon for OEM bodykit parts to fall off easily. My experience with other models also have issues like that, but it is all covered by warranty. All work is free-of-charge if replacement or maintenance is required. That is something you cannot get from most aftermarket bodykits.

One time a piece of debris knocked my side strake loose on the fwy. It was still attached to the car, but it ended up sticking out off of the car. I was able to reinstall the piece myself ,and it hasn't come loose since.

You should try another dealer. Since not many cars have the side strakes installed, that tells me that not many dealers have experiences installing them. If you look at the installation instructions at

http://www.handa-accessories.com/S2000/s2kstrakes.pdf

you'd know it's not an easy task to do it correctly.

When I got my car, one of the strakes was not installed properly - a little loose. I took it back and they fixed it.

I talked with vtecvoodoo about his side strakes. He told me that they come off all the time. I don' think they really do anything to the car aerodynamically and are so small that they aren't that noticeable. I'd just take them off. I know he did.

I`m on my 3rd set. You should just install them yourself. They really need to be "rigged" a bit.

They aren't just for looks:

I thought Mugen found in their testing that the OEM pieces didn't provide any aerodynamic benefit.
