When I decide to replace current tires, how much larger can I go on the standard rims without having problems?

You can't really go any higher than a 245/45/16 in the rear since the measured wheel width of most 245/45/16 tires is 8-inches and the stock rear wheel is 7.5-inches. The recommended wheel widths for that size tire would be 7.5-9-inches so you're going to decrease your tread width by .2 inches (5mm) placing that tire on a wheel half an inch narrower than it's measured width. If you want to buy say, an SO-3, the 24.6-inch tall 245/45/16 would fit. The stock wheel (6.5-inches) up front can handle a 225/50/16 tire easy enough but bear in mind you're going outboard 10mm (.4 inches) and lowering your front/rear stagger distances (OEM of 1.6 inches) down to around 1.1 inches.
