When to replace tires?
My s2k only has 10,000 miles on it, and the back tires tread is much less than the front. When is it time to get new tires? Standard tires have the tread wear indicator on them, but these don't have anything.
use a penny as a tread indicator. place a penny in a groove with Lincoln's head down, towards center of wheel. if head is partially covered by tread, then you still have enough tread. if it's wet season for your area, you might want to change sooner though.
10k? Thats where many have started to notice the tires start to feel different. really depends on your driving style.
there ARE wear indicators on the stock S02's. Along the part where the sidewall meets the tread, you will see small triangles that point out where the wear bar goes across the tires. When the wear bar is even with the tread, you shoulda changed the tire yesterday.
rears typically go first on this car; mine lasted 13k first set & 10k on the second set. my fronts lasted 23k!

Thanks for all the great advice. That's why I love this sight. My last post saved me from having my fuel tank, fuel lines, etc. replaced at my cost due to an eroneous diagnosis of fuel contamination, when in fact a rap on the MAP sensor fixed the problem. (Thanks to CDELENA's advice).
