When should I change oil?
I know I'm not driving my car often but I need your advice...
I bought my S2K on Jan, 05. 5 miles on the odometer. Since then, 8+ months, I managed to put 850 miles. Yes, 850 miles in 8+ months. (no flaming please... It's my weekend "fun" car and I also have a Ducati).
My questions is I know Honda put some kind of addictive "molly" in their oil and should drive it until 7500 miles before change... but if I follow this direction, it would be 7 years before my first oil change. When should I change my first oil?
Thanks in advance.

Your owner's manual (and any car's owner's manual) will tell you that the maintenance schedule goes by mileage OR time, whichever comes FIRST. If you don't put on many miles, you do all your maintenance according to TIME.
I'm one who does NOT believe Honda put in some magical additive in the factory oil. The high moly content came from the assembly lube when the engine was put together. A couple of minutes of the first start up, that moly does very little in circulation. You'd need many, many times that concentration in circulation for it to have any significant long term effect.

Also, I believe you should ALWAYS follow the sevear duty schedule whould place the first oil change at 3750mi.
I have no problem with preserving a car, and not driving it very often. However, my reccomendation would be to drive a new car to properly break it in, then preserve later. As an example, a friend of mine has a 1994 SS Camaro. 1994 was the first year of the return of the SS, and it's a collectable car. Now, I won't argue about THAT aspect, but he believes it and that's good enough. He put about 3,100 mi on the first year, and has stored it ever since.
If I really wanted to collect a car, this is what I would do.

What time frame does Honda say to change the first oil? I wouldn't wait until you reach the miles, so I would maybe do it a little after your time, somewhat average them (but closer to time than mileage).
You should drive it more! It needs it. My father drives a new AMG and I remember reading in the book that it should be driven once a week (several miles, not just on for 1 minute then off), for optimal performance and age and preservation. I assume that is typical or somewhat suggested for most cars.
We also collect 1955 and 1957 Ford Thunderbirds (and a 1965 Morgan Plus 4). These cars are driven maybe once every 2 months. However, if we get a chance to start them once a week for 2 or 3 weeks, they start much easier and run much better after that. That came out weird, let me restate. The cars starts better and runs smoother if it was started recently.
Good luck!
