Where can I source a new motor?
Well, I blew another F20c. My mechanic called and told me that a rod let go and put two holes in the block. He said something about the top half of the motor not being usable unless we clean the cylinder head really well. What do you guys think? Should I get a whole new motor again or should I risk it and just go with a new block and use my existing top half? -___-. I'm located in San Diego, anyone know where I can source a new motor/block ASAP? I'm looking for the best deal possible!
I'm 2 motors deep now... The first one died at 72,000 miles and this one let go at 43,000 miles.

you are obviously doing something wrong... or your mechanic isnt a good reliable person... my F20 has ~100,000 heavily driven for the last ~40,000 and my engine is just as new.... just blew a spark plug due torque specs...
get a new engine and try another mechanic?... but ask your mechanic for ALL your parts back...

I found a new mechanic and he's a good guy, he works on my cousin's supercharged AP2 and that thing is mint. The first motor blew up due to driver error (mis-shift, went for the 5-4 down shift and ended up pulling 5-2). The second motor just decided it didn't want to cooperate anymore. LOL. Either way, I'm not doubting the F20, it's one strong little motor. I'm just trying to get my car back on the road asap.

Thanks man and I don't know about taking it easy but I will definitely keep a close eye on this one. I wish I could go after my previous mechanic for the shoddy work he's done, this isn't the first time his work has crapped out on me.
I know a local guy who *I think* has a F20c and a complete Vortech supercharger kit laying around. I'll see if I can get a bundle deal from him. I need my car back on the road by next Friday and getting it back boosted would be awesome.

Thanks man! Unfortunately the only one they have is a complete motor and transmission set-up for $3,999. All I really need is a long-block now that I think about it, I should be able to just transfer all of my accessories from my current motor to the new one.
Also, quick question for you guys: I've been thinking about dropping in an '04-05 F22. Now I know that it's pretty much plug and play except for shaving a little bit of the fuel rail but my question is this - will I be able to safely rev to 9,000rpm in the F22 without any tuning, etc.?
