i put my sunglasses in their case and put them under/in front of my seat. i do not like having things out in the open, have had too many cars broken into.
Careful. If you brake hard they could slide forward and end up under one of the pedals!

not really, there is that rectangular brace that runs across the driver area between the floor mat and the seat. had to slam on my brakes plenty of times without it jumping over the brace.

I've had an umbrella roll over that hump. I still think it's not a great idea for you or anyone else reading this. Unlikely, yes, but on the off chance it happens it could be really dangerous.

My aviators fit perfectly in one of those 4 slots in front of the passenger beneath the dash. I use the remaining three for 1) swiss army knife 2) garage door opener 3) a digital tire pressure gauge.

I always have them in my sunglass pounch of my pack bag which comes with me everywhere I go. Otherwise passenger seat. If I have a passenger, they go in the front secret compartment when not in use.

Lately, I've been using a Case Logic ALMO front seat organizer on the passenger seat.

It secures to the seat, but even "unsecure" the grippy fabric of the CR seat prevents it from moving. I use the pockets to store all my crap. Gloves, iPhone, parking tags, a drink, and even takeout when I don't want it moving all around the car. 99% of the time, it's just me in the car and I just toss it in the trunk if I do have to carry someone.
