Icemn2003, I got raped by the dealer. Do some of it yourself and if you can't do some of it, take it to a "trusted" mechanic or something. I think most would agree it's not worth it to go to the dealer.

agreed, dealership is always 2X if not 3X the price...but finding a good mechanic you can trust is so a;lskdjlfjsldf; difficult

Change oil at 3 - 4K but follow the other recommendations for normal conditions.

I'm definately down for saving money.
Any concern that a mechanic won't be as familiar with the car as the dealer?

me ... 'normal' .... its leased .............

.... the discussion id like to see is the difference in maintenance schedules between differing countries ......... and more the point why ? .... the US has by far the most relaxed maintenance schedule iv'e seen for the S ...... plus the service's seem reasonably priced ........ why does an Australian S need its fuel filter replaced , yet their is no mention of a fuel filter in the US maintenance regime !!!!

i've been in the habit to always change my oil every 3000 miles.

my car is about to hit 30k and it'll be time to change the diff. fluid.

when it comes time, i'm going to follow the DYI from s2ki and i'm sure i won't have any problems.

I'm following the normal schedule, loosely speaking. Changed oil at 6000 miles, then about to do the 15k service at around 14k.

I also don't drive that hard, and I have faith in Honda's maintenance schedule recommendations.
