Who has 1st - 2nd gear grind problem with the 02'?
I re-read that post. It is informative however it doesn't answer the question if the s2k tranny is flawed to a certain extent.
An Integra TypE R gets shifted at around 8700 RPMs and the gear ratios are about teh same, Type Rs don't grind when shifted fast neither do they grind for 24hours non stop out of the blue...
The most annoying thing about the gear grind is that it tends to appear, annoy the owner and then dissappear when you are trying to show it to the dealer.

My comment about the Type R wasn't answered though which I would have liked an answer for....
No matter what, we should all thank him for taking the time to post on this board.
Why is it always 2nd gear? Why doesn't any other gear have these problems?
I think almost every high performance car has ome grinding problems. The 350Z is no exception. It is one of those things you have to watch out for to minimize it.

Although the Type R tranny ratios may be similar, can we be even remotely sure that the two trannies are similar? One was designed for FWD, the other RWD. Can we even consider that the syncros are similar? And not to mention the shift linkage and direction of rotation, all of which may come into play in-so-far as form and function (as well as propensity for grinding and notchiness).

Sev, you know me, if I had the answer, I'd tell ya but I can only speculate.
