I received a V1 as a Christmas gift this year. It has already saved me from two tickets. The first I was leading a pack of cars south on I5 through the Grapevine between 85 and 90 MPH when the Ka indicator started to go off. I immediately pulled into the slow lane and slowed down as the pack passed me. About 30 seconds later the Ka is going wild and I see a white CHP parked on the side of the road. As I passed him he pulled into traffic and immediately sped up to nail the lead car that had passed me.

The second near miss was heading to work on Monday. The V1 counted one bogey on Ka band in front and then a second bogey was counted in front. I passed the first CHP giving out a ticket and the arrows switched to both the front and rear. Fifteen seconds later I spotted the second motorcycle CHP sitting on his bike checking traffic.

I LOVE the arrows and bogey counter!

V1 all the way - I do not drive to the mailbox without it - and do the others have the hidden display option?

I have no experience with radar detectors... where do you put a V1? Does it have to be on the dash? I always wondered if having a radar detector visible on the dash will make me more likely to be hassled.

Since you're in VA, I'd recommend one of the hidden installations (Rick Hesel has one hidden in the "secret" compartment). I have no idea what VA uses since I've just bitten the bullet when traveling through VA and removed the detector. If they don't use X-band, I'd recommend the "L" (not "l") setting since it reduces falsing. On the open road outside of NY, I set it to report all signals since I don't know what to expect.
