yeah, thats what people usually say untill something better comes along.

perfect example, my WRX.. it was my first car and i always said i'd never sell it and i was going to keep it around so i can show my kids and give it to them.. yeah... right

i fully built the motor/heads/gt35r/etc.. 500+whp.. now, she just sits in front of my house and shes been there for almost 1 year and hasnt seen more than 10 miles on the road after the buildup. and now im getting ready to sell it because i need $$ for other shit in my life..

now i have the WRX parked and im DD the S2K.. do i miss the WRX? hell yeah, it was my first and i had many, many memories in/with that car.. but time to move on.

I don't think I would have very good luck selling mine, so I'm probably stuck with it.

And dude, what were you thinking?! A WRX? A boy racer built on a cheap econobox platform. Maybe if you hadn't done all that stuff to it, and you had kept it "numbers matching", then maybe 30 years from now the WRX is going to have some value as a collector car. But I doubt it. And even then, it would only be the STi versions.

- honda (enough said)
- sexy looks
- insane handling from the factory
- fun factor
- power to weight ratio
- holds value
- VTAAAAaK!

I will probably keep mine until the engine dies.

Are there other cars out there that I'd like and can readily afford right now? Sure. But I like to squeeze every bit of value out of my vehicles before I sell them. And since my S2000 is not worth much due to age and miles (106k, MY00'), I'll just drive it til maintenance costs deem it ready to retire.

I will keep it forever because:
- It's cheap to maintain
- Cheap to run
- Fun
- Practical
- Comfortable
- Power is acceptable
- Good handling feel
- RWD
- Relatively lightweight

<<< keeping it forever.... I don't think I could ever replace it unless a zonda shows up at my door .

Lightweight
Perfect position for driving
sexy
drop top
rare when driving around
and just plain fun as hell to drive

I can't imagine driving a different car--I hope to have my AP1 for as long as humanly possible.

As stupid as it sounds, I've always attributed personality to the cars I've owned and in that sense, my S2 is the kind of good friend with whom you ALWAYS have fun no matter where you end up.

I'll be keeping mine until I can pay cash for something at least at entertaining to replace it with...which means pretty much forever. There just aren't any other 2-seat roadsters out there that are as fun to drive and inexpensive to own as the S (Miata, but just too slow for me.) It's more likely that I'll buy some sort of daily driver and save the S for weekend/nice weather status.

I agree with virtually everything in this thread. The S is so much fun to start with and when you add a few hundred ponies it gets even more fun. I will never part with it.

I may throw on a supercharger in the future and definitely don't plan on getting rid of it anytime soon since its already paid for I'd love to keep it as a weekend car once i finish school. DD'ing my baby in shitty atlanta roads breaks my heart.
