Who of you all "invested" in an extended warranty?
I am becoming an owner in the next couple of weeks. I was thinking of tacking on the warranty. I wanted to gage whether it was really worth while.

I purchased one through Warranty Direct. Be careful - I have heard plenty of issues with the Honda Care warranty where people were denied coverage due to claimed "owner abuse". Even the one I have does not cover the transmission which is where I have had a number of issues.

I am not quite sure how GAP insurance would help offset a warranty issue or a mechanical issue. It was my understanding that GAP insurance was to cover a difference or "gap" between what is owed and the value of the vehicle.

Yup - you got it...doesn't cover mechanical issues and the like, I just thought I'd throw it in there since it really is a sound investment for anyone financing their S to have

As you can probably tell from my signature - I work for a Honda dealer. I DID NOT buy the Honda Care Warranty - Honda is funny about accepting claims, I just don't trust them when it comes to warranty stuff. Plus Honda is not "mod" friendly - like DaveZ said - "owner abuse".
I bought a 4/48,000 warranty that starts when my Honda 3/36,000 warranty is done (I'm covered for 7/84,000). I bought a JM & A warranty, and it actually covers a little more than Honda, and is cheaper (well, for me ). I bought GAP - I put no money down on my car (I never do - ). I also bought a special wheel and tire warranty that we offer. I have never bought so much protection stuff for a car before, but I've never felt so strongly about a car before either

I bought the 7/100 Hondacare warranty, I got it for $50 over cost and it includes roadside assistance for the whole period so bit the bullet.
I can fully understand why people refuse to buy the warranty, but I do not intend to modify my car and I get good service from my dealer so I'm not too worried about problems with Honda. I pay $750 per year for comprehensive and collision insurnace coverage that I never use, what is another $300 per year for mechanical breakdown insurance.

I bought an extended "Honda Warranty" when I purchased my certified 2001 S2K, I have not needed it yet. The cost was negotiated to 1,350 for 6 years or 100K miles. Since there are no engine/exhaust modifications, I don't think I'll have a dealer problem.

I bought it, and have yet to use it. I still have 41,000 miles to go before it's up and I will proabably not be driving it as much next year, so I still have about 3 years to go before it's up.

I bought a 7 yr/ 100k Honda warranty for around $800. I went with the real Honda warranty because of so many stories about "fly by night" extended warranty companies and denied claims. I will not be moddifying and I drive mine so will rapidly rack up the miles.
