Default why am i judged so often

i just bought my 2001 s2000 silverstone about 2 weeks ago and i love it. i am 16 17 in october and have been saving up for an s2k since i saw one in a dealership one day and i finally saved up enough of my own money to buy one. but it seems whenever i go cruising through town people only give me dirty looks and ive even had a couple people at a gas station call me spoiled. why do people judge others so quickly based on what you dive. i am proud of what i drive and that i am getting no help from my parents to pay for anything but others dont seem to feel the same way. i just want to know if one of you "older guys or girls" saw a kid driving around in a s2k what you would think????

you probably pay for your car but do you pay for your insurance?

Its just people making assumptions about something they don't know. You shouldn't let it bother you. What matters is that you know you paid for it and not your parents. I bought and paid for all of my cars so I know where you are coming from.

i haven't experienced this issue, yet. i dun hope to.
the looks i get, i relate more to "i have to show that little sports car." more than, "spoiled brat."

you did a great thing saving up for one. dun let them take away from your accomplishment.

next time, you get a comment along the lines of being spoiled...
feel free to go on a tirade over how it was your own savings and determination that bought you the car.

and if the still give you lip.
deck them... then 9K away from the scene =]

Well I would be under the assumption that your parents helped you out somehow becuase I am not sure how a 16 year old kid would be able to save up enough to even get a downpayment on an s2000. And IF they were able to save enough cash I would not know how they got a loan without their parents cosigning. (assuming that you have to be 18 to get a loan)
Guessing your 16 and bought your own car CONGRATULATIONS!!
Share the story how you came about getting your S. And welcome to the s2ki community!

Because they are people. Welcome to the real world. That's the way people are.

i dunno. a 2001 MY isn't even an expensive car anymore. i wanted one of these cars since High school, and they were brand new just before I hit senior year. I took me until last March to finally get one. If anybody said I was spoiled at this point I would probably just ram their car and say "Yeah but I got better insurance too." Screw em dude. Jealousy is the word they were looking for. They act like if mom or dad bought them a brand new M3 or something they wouldn't drive it for fear of seeming spoiled..

First of all, congratulations on your purchase especially since you are the one who worked for the money that paid for it. Don't let what other people think bother you. I worked and paid for my 1st car (1988 toyota pickup) which I drove for 13 years (now I drive the S2k). My parents did pay for my insurance, but I did go to school (and then college) full time. Anything that I added to the car I paid for with the money I earned with the jobs I had. In fact my mom still wanted to help me out with the S2k and I told her "no" I like the fact that it is my car and I am the one paying for it. I'm sure you will appreciate the car more knowing how hard you worked for it. So don't let other people who have no clue about you bother you. Just make sure you drive safely.

how i got it was i had about 12k saved up i have been saving since i was like 12. plus i work 2 jobs. but i found one on craigs list for 15550 it was gorgeous. so being that i didn't have the full15.5k i offered him my 12k. he said ok then when i went to pick it up i saw the reason why he lowered the price. there is a decent size dent right next to he gas door. i banged it out a little and it looks ok. it also has a couple other small ones but i love it. anyway i got him to take 11.2k and the car has 60k miles and i got the dent quoted for repair for 800. so i feel i made out well. now im saving up for an intake. i want the intake but my mom wants me to save for college in the fall cuse she cant help with that either. ohh and if your wondering why a 16yr old is going to college i skipped junior year
