Why is it bad to shift at low rpm?

4000 to 5000 is normal for me.

i normally shift between 3 - 3.5k unless iam feeling froggy

Of course if it was nighttime, not much traffic, and I was feeling frisky, my change points in gears 1 and 2 would be 9K!!

I have only changed from 3rd gear at 9K on the track.

I have never yet had the experience of changing from 4th or higher at 9K, but I hope that some day I get the chance.

Dave,
It's time you went up Thunderbolts or the Oxley. Then you can change at 9K in every gear!

Well maybe 3rd and 4th - but 5th? That would be 222km/h according to my owners manual.
That road is only 2 lanes isnt it?

Maybe on a 6 lane, divided, downhill long stretch - like Kiama - if I was as fearless as some people I have met?
