Why did I mis-shift?

Oh, forgot to add that you don't want to skip gears shifting up. Mis-shifting down = bad for engine, mis-shifting up = bad for tranny(although not as bad)
If you allow time for the revs to drop you can skip shift without negative repurcussions. It's the opposite of a rev match in that you "let the engine wind down on its' own" match.
