Why did my maint reqd light come on?
If you want to reset it, just turn your key the the accessory position, hold down the trip reset button, and proceed to turn the key to the "on" position. After a few secs, the maint. light should reset itself. No worries, just letting you know that its time for the scheduled maintenance.

I understand that the S2000s have a maintanance required light. What I don't understand is why it came on for me.
I was participating in a spirited drive, and probably spent a good 60 miles in VTEC, and was basically hard on the car. I checked the oil when the engine was warm before leaving, and it was full. The car has 20,900 miles, and there is no maintanance required until 22,500 miles. Why would the maint req'd light come on at this mileage? Did something bad happen to the car during the drive?

What I'm more interested in is the fact that you drove 60miles in VTEC. WOW! I've never even driven 1 mile cruising in VTEC all in a straight shot. You must have been just not shifting at all, or driving extremely fast!
Seems like no one answered your actual question. Firstable, The maint light is a reminder light not a "ohmygodthecarisgoingtoexplode" light. What makes you think that your next service is at 22.5k miles? The main reason your light came on is because either it is the actual schedule for your maintenance or the previous maint light was reset ahead of schedule due to an earlier than needed maintenance done. Most of us don't even pay attention to the maint reminder light since we have our own schedule on fluid change and spark plugs which differs from the factory recommendation.

Yeah, like everyone said, it's not a big deal and you can probably perform any scheduled maint. required at this time by youself (oil and filter change, check tire pressure, etc) and you can reset the light yourself too.

Well, that answered my question. The last time that light was reset, was 2.5 years ago. That was 7500 miles ago.
But nobody told me the page numbers for the owners manual. I don't think it's included in mine. It talked about all the other lights, like check engine, abs, etc. but not about the maint req'd light.

On the track you'll be revving the car above 6,000 rpm the entire time, so that is one way to do it. Terrible gas mileage, however
