Why do I love the s2000 so much?
I have spent over 4 years and 100,000 miles behind the wheel of my 2 s2k's, and after totalling my '05 last week, the first thing that popped into my mind was "get another s2k!" Why is that? The s2000 is no longer considered a fast car. It is not rare. It doesn't turn heads like it did when I first got my '02. It can now be out-accelerated by family sedans and out-handled by a number of competitors. Why do I love this car so much? Have years on this site just rotted my brain and turned me into a mindless fanboi, or is there something truly special about the s2000? Am I the only person who felt a chill go down his spine every time I hit 9k, pulled off a perfect drift, or nailed the rev-match on a 3-2 downshift entering a turn? Am I crazy for wanting to buy another s2000 just because I know all of the Ohio club guys and I want to continue driving with them? What is up with this? Should I just forget about it and buy something faster and better looking and move on?
soul. That's what s2k has that not many cars out there have. Consider a 350z for instance. When i look at that car and drive that car, it just feels like a hatch coupled to the ever so popular vq35 motor. Ofcourse it hauls ass but nothing about it feels special and extraordinary. I might sound crazy but s2k has a spirit like no other car. It is exclusive and alive. It has personality and character. I just feel that it listens to you and gives you exactly what you want. To me atleast, it defines perfection. THat's why i like it.
you're not crazy. in socal, i drive by the most expensive of what the world has to offer. and there are times where i want more prestige and wouldnt mind if people treated me well just by looking at me (not that it would be meaningful, but rather that it would make life easier). but looking at any other car, i ask myself, would i do a straight trade and not be allowed to have another s2000. my chest closes up and i think hell no. even the f430, i think, if only it was reliable like a honda.
it isn't the best of anything on paper, but it is the tightest most connected feeling car i have ever driven. it is also like a secret that only those who have an open non-status oriented mind know about. although it sucks when you see one rotting away on a used car lot or hear that someone only bought one cuz it was cheap and are biding their time until they have more money for a porsche.

I'm plannin on buying my first S at the end of the summer if not sooner. I fell in love with it by going through old car show pics and then finding this forum. And of course, my friend has one and when i got in, i sunk into the seat perfectly, shifted into first and was like DAMNNN. Haha. Beats my little 97hp d16y7 Civic Hatchback. haha. Hmm 97 hp or 240
I can't wait to get mine. Love it.
