when i passed a crosswalk at my college the other day, 2 guys were staring at me while i was driving, and ONCE I PASSED (pussies) one of them yelled "expensive civic!" - yeh okay....since when did civics have two seats, a front-mid-engine, and 240 hp? not to mention that it can hang with cars outside of its price range on a road course.

Just to prove my point. I just came back from the gym. As I walk out and start walking towards my car, as I am walking I scream "YOU MOTHER ****ER* two trucks parked so close to me on both sides I almost couldnt get in. Thank god I am skinny.

As I am looking around and trying to figure out how to fit in and swearing up and down, 3 huge dudes from the same gym come up and tell me that it is messed up and if I needed help. I tell them thx for concern but it's ok nothing can be done. Told them to have a good night, they said np and drove away. Long story short took me about 60 seconds to fit in. I had an urge to kick the shit out of their POS trucks.

I have yet to really run into anything negative yet. I did come outside one morning with grass all over my windows. Other than that I try and park far away but somehow I always get damn door dings! Got 2 more recently that need to be taken care of. Some people I swear.

I think that these cars draw attention because they're not only nice, they're very different than the millions of lifted pickup trucks, oversized SUVs, Mustangs, BMWs, and everything else that you see everyday, everywhere. Unfortunately, in some people that breeds resentment...rather than admiring a car and making a favorable comment to the owner, they inflict damage either intentionally or through carelessness (e.g. door dings). My car isn't a daily driver and is seldom parked in public so that it can be damaged.

I have a couple of cars that I don't park anywhere that I can't keep an eye on them. Assholes are everywhere unfortunately. When we still had the shop, I came out to my demo Accord coupe to find numerous soft dents on the car. For once our security cameras paid for themselves. Went back and had a look, and sure enough some university students that had mauled all the cars in the showroom that afternoon leaving their greasy fingerprints everywhere, then went out back and and dented my car. I was able to track them down. I told them I had recordings of them doing it, and if they didn't come in and pay Dent Wizard for removing them, my next call was to the cops. They did come and and settle up. They told me they were just doing tests to determine the strength of the panels. I was not impressed and told them to fly the f--- out of my office and never darken our lot again. They kept sitting there looking at me, and then informed me they wanted an apology for saying a "bad word." I reached into my cabinet behind me, grabbed my baseball bat and told them get while the going was good. They did, never to be seen again. Hope they managed to learn something in school going forward. I'm pretty sure they may have that day.

Knock on wood have not had any of those types of things with my car. Just the typical ricer flybys from kids in their boosted VW's (most times it seems to be a VW for some reason) or them coming up and brake boosting next to me trying to get me to race them in thier bagged crap handling hatch. But we usually just laugh at them and let them move along.

But 99% of the time I get positive responses towards the car. Usually people just pull up and give the thumbs up, wave, etc. I dont live in an area where it is primarilly american muscle car people so maybe that is part of it. Classic american muscle cars are quite big around here for sure, but there is a big mix overall. And I have gotten lots of interest, questions and positive comments from owners of those cars as well.
