Default why do you modify?

i was just thinking why do we modify are cars. for street , track, or both. i know some people modify their cars just for the street. if anything the stock is perfectly fine on the streets. for those who modify for street , is it to street race or get the the next stop light faster. my car is a daily driver with 36thou miles. i modify my car for street and track and autoX. ive tracked and autoX my car a few times. thats my reason to modify.

my mod list . first to last

voodoo ti knob; a more percise shift
veilside ti exhaust; cheap and very light; weight reduction
aem v2 intake; cheap, power, no heatsoak, weight reduction
rsr springs; cheap and love the look of a lowered car. not to good on track.
opak ti strut bar; cheap, titanium, for looks
science of speed x brace; every body knows why, stiffer chassis
volk 18's; for looks
cusco rear upper and lower bars; cheap and needed to be replace. hit a racoon and bent the rear lower.
well thats just perfomance parts

just wanna know what make every body that does modify , modify.

I havn't done anything yet to the S, but more then the performance gains it's the satisfaction and the experience of doing something beneficial to my car. And I learn a lot too.

I added Carbo-tech Panther + pads and Ate Super Blue brake fluid for track days. Other than that the car is stock.

We modify because we are enthusiasts and we can never be satisfied with "stock". If we wanted a "stock" car we would have bought Buicks. We want more and when we get it we want more still.

As enthusiasts we pay very close attention to our cars and in doing so see areas we think can be improved (aesthetically, ergonomically or for performance) so we set about doing it. Non-enthusiasts don't pay any attention to their cars and are just happy if it runs. They don't seek improvement because they don't care. That's what makes us different from them.

It's not S2000 specific. That's why all car enthusiasts modify their cars in some respect even if that only means using a special oil or tires or some such. The extent you modify your car depends on you and there is no formula I know of to predict that.

Not stock. You have a hardtop and red badges. Stock means off the showroom floor stock. Stock oil, stock filters and stock tires. Stock means stock.
