Why engine mods make no sense
I think some people are defensive about their mods because they:
(a) can't justify the oodles of money they've thrown down the drain;
(b) can justify the oodles of money, but are still scared of daddy once he sees the credit card bill; or,

You forgot the knuckleheads who think they should keep it stock or to suggest going with a supercharger...
1. Perhaps they can't afford the car to begin which makes ownership a stretch (it happens), which makes them jealous/hate everyone around them who can afford it- and thus look for the quickest solution, regardless to the long term implication of their purchase.
2. They have no engineering skills, which precludes them from appreciating elegantly engineered solutions.
3. They have no emotional attachment to the car, and thus derive no enjoyment from tinkering with it.
4. Or- they're just haters, and find enjoyment out of causing annoyance to groups of people they think they can pick on.
C3- I still would like to see a new forum- Stocker Stooks. How about it? I'm sure those that agree with the topic of this thread would love it too- and I PROMISE not to go there...

Alright folks!!!We've been down this road before. Please be nice to each others even though we can disagree on lots of things. Let's not close another good discussion thread.
It's unfortunate that this topic causes so much contention and defensiveness from both sides. Neither side seems to realize that there is no right or wrong answer to the question, "are mods worth the money"? Each is or is not making modifications to their own vehicle for various reasons, all justifiable in the owners mind - weighing costs vs. benefits will be entirely subjective.
For many, a stock S2000 is just as enjoyable to drive as a SC S2000; I may be able to justify $5000 for a 20hp increase but you can't justify $200 for a 10hp increase; a moded S2000 isn't intrinsically "better" than an un-moded S2000, and vice versa - it all depends on the owner.
It should go without saying, to each his/her own.

I wouldn't surprise me if Honda wrings out another 15-20HP out of the F20C. They have proven themselves in the past to take engines that have already been proven to be engineering marvels and make them even better. Just look at the B18C, when the GSR first came out in 94, everyone was like "wow!". In 97, the B18C5 was introduced, doing what many thought was impossible at the time. 107.5 HP/L was practically physics defying. Same story with the B16A.

And here's me saying earlier:
For what you save by buying the S2K, you have plenty of margin to experiment with various mods, or just go all the way and get the SC (with whatever mods should accompany it.)
