You're not alone.

I've told several of my friends to be gentle when shutting the door...everyone slams it.

I too drove my S2000 today. I stored it for winter about 1 month ago. 40" of melted snow later I'm driving her again!

Some people don't really give a damn, that's probably why I can recount how many people has ever been in my car before ... Nevertheless, I always open and close the doors for them and tell them to watch and be careful not to kick the low door sill and expensive kickplate.

One of the reasons the S2000 doors close so easily (other that precission Honda Engineering) compared to other (tin-topped) cars is there is no pressure resistance (especially when the top is down) - take a well build german car - say a golf - the last door closed needs a good slam if all the windows are closed (open one window just an inch and see how much easier the door is to close!)

Ever closed the door on a mid-80's american car? Lord, those doors weigh about 2 tons.

Thank god all of my friends own Hondas, they shut the door properly. I just have to remind them to close it with the handle and not the window.

I know what you mean.
I feel your pain!
Where do these people come from???

I have been saying it for so long to so many people, some of my friends will turn to me BEFORE they get out of the car and say "I know, door closes easy!"
When people open the door to get in I reach my hand over into their seat so they can't sit down yet, I look them in the eye and say "the door closes easy!"
When people get out of the car I tap them on the shoulder to get them to look at me before they open the door and I say the same thing.

Sad you have to go through this all the time, but I can't stand someone slamming my doors.

Door slammers are probably also the type of folks who jerk their cars to a stop.

It's amusing to watch them drive like that when they are driving some crude Detroit appliance with a buckboard suspension!

I would agree with a couple of other posts that it all depends on what type of cars they are accustomed to driving. I had a beautiflully made super tight tolerance 91 Mustang LX 5.0 Coupe that required a F350 shot to the door to get it closed.

I don't think that our doors are that much lighter than other cars, they are just well balanced.
