Thumbs up Why Magnaflow?

I have seen several threads where people have replaced the stock mufflers with Magnaflows.

Is there a reason to use the Magnaflow over the Borla or Flowmaster or any other brand?

I think it's just the preferred brand. There is also the fact that Spugen use them.

Borla has less restriction than Magnaflow.
Borla also has better construction.

OK I guess it must be because Spugen uses it and everyone knows it works and there is nothing magic that makes it work and none of the others, good.

I had liked the sound and construction of the Borla when I was playing with exhausts on my Miata. I used 4 different combos after changing to a Random Tech Hi Flow cat made the car so loud you couldn't drive it very long without hearing loss. The Borla gave a sports car burble rather than a harsh sound like the Flowmaster and Magnaflow.

I have tried a couple of total exhaust systems on my S but haven't been happy with the sound. I haven't tried the Fujitsubo and someone told me it might give me what I want but I thought I'd start with just a muffler replacement and see what it gets me. If I don't like it either I can always change it out.

Anyone have any sound bites of the Fujitsubo or a Magnaflow muffler conversion?

I may have found out why Magnaflow, it's cause you can't find the Borlas as separate mufflers. Every place I called and visited today only could get Borlas as a complete exhaust system.

Anyone with the Magnaflows that will call me and let me listen to their sound?

Your findings are completely incorrect.

David, I have Magnaflows on mine, but it is a complete 3" exhaust system without a resonator. Also, test pipe is in place for now.

Well it seems you can buy the Borlas separate online but I can't find them any place in Dallas. Everyone only has the capacity to order complete systems from the local suppliers.

Fred are you going to be at the Autocross August 27th? I want to hear yours. When you say it is a complete 3" exhaust you mean you bought the Magnaflow system? Oh wait, yours has a turbo which changes the sound quality. Never mind.
