Why is my car not selling? HELP
I had the same experience this summer selling my 1997 Grand Cherokee. It was near perfect condition with relatively low miles (55k). I put ads in the Autotrader, Autorecycler, one other net based listing I don't remember and a couple of local papers. It took about a month and a half to sell it. I had one call with no show and then the guy who bought it. That's it. Lowered the price twice during the process.
My son is going through the same thing in the Bay area. Trying to sell a nice, full sized Blazer using the same methods. Been about a month and only a couple of calls. I don't know, maybe it's just the economy.

Do you have a Used Car Market anywhere in your area? We have a large Park-and-Ride parking lot that the city of Thousand Oaks leases to a private company between 5:00 pm, Friday and 6:00 pm Sunday, where you can park your car/truck/camper for sale, for a $35 fee. One guy manages it, and allows potential buyers to start the engine, but not drive it off the lot. The buyer then calls you if heorshe wants a test drive or to negotiate a deal. On each weekend, I estimate that they sell 25-50% of all cars on the lot. I've sold 4 cars that way - all within 6 hours of parking them there. If you haven't heard of this kind of used car parking lot sale, call your city offices and ask if they know of one in your area.
When you're asking over $20K for a car, you really need to make your car fairly visible before you'll get many promising bites. Personally, I wouldn't even think about of buying a car at $26K through a newspaper or magazine ad. However, if I could look over the car at my leisure, first, then I might be induced to check it out.
Good luck. Hope you get a buyer soon.

I went to a CarMax about a month ago in Palm Beach, Fl and they offered me $26,200
My car is stock. I was just checking pricing. I am very happy with the car.
Red/Black - The best color combo of course.
Never redlined of course
29,400 miles purchased in October 1999. Great condition
They said they just sold one for $29,100 and would list it for $30,900
My 2 cents

I think our rides appeal to a more younger crowd these days an the facts are that they just can't afford one yet. In like three years when the value of the S2K is half or less (15-20k mark), the demand for it will be huge. What 16 year old wouldn't love to have 240 HP delivering pizzas

Hey Scot how much are you paying for the Megabusa if you don't mind telling me. And are you getting it in kit form or fully assembled? And why not the R500 instead? Reviews have shown that it is more confidence inspiring(I think, the article was published some time back regarding the R500, Megabusa and 340R) and just as fast. Any way it is a great car and please let us know when you get it
Super excited for you, that is what I would call an enthusiast's car!

Hang in there. I first listed my LT1 Corvette for sale in June and didn't sell it until two weeks ago. I incrementally dropped the price, but it didn't seem to make a difference.
Finally, a guy down the street decided he wanted one and it all worked out. Be patient, when somebody decides they want one, they'll call.

Try raising your price to begin with, 26k for an s2000, in cali, come now, u can do a lot better than that. If its a 2000, the least I would sell for would be 30k. I have a 2001 and with 2001 in the dealerships goin for over 40 still....I wouldnt sell for less than 37k

Scot: Just hang in there. I've sold many hard to sell sports cars. But...they all took longer than your normal Teg or civic. My 72 BMW 2002 Tii with 62 k miles and mint took 9 months!!! But I got my price FINALLY... Only advice I can give you is the same others have....alot of advertising....Try the Cartrader mag out of Orlando FL, it isn't so seasonally dependent and has a huge circulation. PM me if you need the address. Good Luck!!!!!
