Default why is NFR so hard to find?

I've been looking for a nice used 2003 for over a year now, and there seems to be VERY few NFR (new formula red) cars...? Did they produce an abnormally low number of the NFR in 2003?
Thanks!,

In my opinion is because not as many people buy the color red in general. GPW/Black/Silverstone is what your going to find in most cases. Good luck with your search.

Actually, Red, white, and LBP are among the hardest colors to find used.

Just to give you some perspective, in 2003 Honda sold about 7800 S2000s, about 12% red. Thats only around 930 2003 NFRs in USA, or 18 per state. Assuming there are more in Cali than anywhere else, and some have been wrecked, there could be very few 03 NFRs around in general, much less for sale.

Hard to find colors are the colors that dealers rarely stocked. Dealers usually have silverstone and black new cars on the lot because those colors are easy to sell. You'll get some customers saying "I like it, but Nah I don't want a red car"

Great posts guys, thanks. Interesting thing, I found a couple 2003's with ULTRA low mile this year (under 2000 original miles) and both were Suzuka Blue...I just could not bring myself to get one...(no offense to anyone) They both had the blue dash.
I also found a BOATload of Sebring Silver's for sale. Silverstone seems to be harder to find that I thought it would be as well, thats my number 2 choice...I guess I'll just have to keep looking!

Interesting note...for 2003 only, I've NEVER seen a Silverstone with a factory red interior, i've seen hundreds of 2003 silverstone's with red, but never Silverstone. It was apparently an option(according to my 2003 dealer brochure) for the Silvertstone, but I only ever saw Sebring Silver

I just searched Autotrader, and 16 2003 NFRs are for sale nationally!

http://www.autotrader.com/fyc/searchresult...dsfyc=&systime=

46 03 "silver" for sale: http://www.autotrader.com/fyc/searchresult...dsfyc=&systime=

And of course, there are only 5 03 GPWs for sale: http://www.autotrader.com/fyc/searchresult...dsfyc=&systime=

its always the eye popping colors that are hard to find. its almost always easy to find a gray scale colored car. ie., black, white, silver, or silverstone.
