Why is the Rx8 so much cheaper than S2k?

Possibly because the RX8 burns a quart of oil every 2 weeks. Its so bad that the salesmen warn you to make sure you check it constantly. POS IMO. Its just a Ford.

Its just a Ford?? C'mon.....

I think it only burns a quart every 2-3000 miles and it was designed to burn oil to keep the apex seals properly lubricated. Some AP1's burn almost as much oil!

I agree. Its what an S2K would drive like if Honda decided to make it a 4-passenger car. Pretty impressed with it when I drove it with 3 other passengers on an auto-x course.

Of course, I didn't need rear seats and the styling of the RX8 hasn't grown too much on me so I bought the S.

I wonder what makes it "so" much slower than the S? The extra 200 lbs?

I think it has to do with the engine platform and the problems that lay with in. Rotory engines are not known to be high mileage engines and cost of keeping them running can be high and redundant. Also poor gas gas mileage does not help.
