This car has been for sale a long time I think this guy is dreaming. Is this car going to be a collectible?

He's probably just hoping to find another collector. It's probably paid off and he's testing the waters. Low mileage with hardtop is worth something, but not that much in my opinion.

I bet his wife is probably telling him to get rid of it so he post up an expensive ad knowing it won't sell

i don't see anything special about that car, not yet anyway

vin ends in 1887, perhaps if it was 2-50 or 100, but it does look like a really nice example of an early 1st year ap1, but really, i'd rather spend 24k on a 2009 with that many miles.

When I was looking 2 years ago, there was a guy selling a 00/01 for $24k (orginally asking 29). The car was mint and had only 540 something miles on it.

This guy bought the car becuase there was only going to be a few made. Paid way ever msrp for it and then never drove it so he could sell it for a profit later. 10yrs later he is screwed and cant stand to lose so much money.

^ Good point. A local guy bought the first "very rare" yellow when they came out, paid $52k for it. Adjusted market value.

The 00s were going for between 38 and 43k when new around here.

When I was shopping last fall I looked at several 00-01s with 10-15,000 miles and they were all in the neighborhood of $15k. The 02 I ended up buying had 12,000 miles and was nowhere near $24k.

Highly unlikely this guy gets more than $20k.

1887 isn't even that young

It'll probably be up for a looong time, but if he's not in a hurry to sell... I'm sure he'll find someone who will pay around 20k for it.

I think we've still got some years to go until the S2000 starts to appreciate in value. A bone-stock S will probably one day be worth something (mods kill resale on all cars). This guy's on the right track but maybe a decade too early.
