The S2K will never be "collectable". To many were produced. That's not to say it will ever be forgotten.

No seriously, in 20 years it will be mildly collectible, in 40 years a true collectors that will sell for 15-25k restored. Look at the mustang, one of the most common cars out there in america, and 1960s stangs sell like hot cakes. I'm not saying the s2000 is the same, I am just saying every day another s2000 is salvaged or turned into a parts car to put the engine into a strange new 1960s project car
. Eventually the s3000 will be the new s2000 and the old s2000 will take place like the s600. Everything becomes a classic after a while, and who says gasoline will last forever? In 80 years you'll have to convert old car engines to a new fuel source. Nothing lasts forever on this planet. Shit indeedly does happen.(Bless the souls of those who have died driving this car
)Edit: Speaking of weird old cars...

The only S with a chance of becoming collectible is the CR imo - it was the only version really built in low numbers. For a few thousand more than what the seller is asking, you can get a new CR, if you can find one.
certain color 2009 Cr's are impossible to get
