Will Test pipe on a stock S2K do anything?
"Will test pipe on a stock S2K do anything?"
Other than make it illegal to drive on the street in all 50 states, and dramatically increase the amount of toxic pollution you pump into the atmosphere?
Nope, not much at all.
Cheers!

You get....
No real power (2hp at peak RPM, PUHLEASE)
Torched paint on bumper
Filthy bumper in 5 miles
An EPA fine of 10K (in NYC anyway) if caught
Car smells like crap all the time, not pleaseant in a convertible in traffic.....
Any other questions?

Vote to change "test pipe" into "I can do it because i'm only one person and it won't matter pipe". Problem is, there are plenty of people with this attitude. This assumption leads to part of the problem, albeit a small one in the grand scheme of things, but still a problem nonetheless.
Stop hiding by the overly generous term "test pipe". What are you testing anyways? Last time I checked they were meant for dyno and track cars exclusively. The people who sell and make these devices should have more culpability than they do. They wash their hands by affixing a disclaimer saying "for off-road use only". They damn well know that at least half of these things are going on road cars and they don't care becuse they made a buck.
My first car was an '87 RX-7. After I hit 100K it developed a bad exhaust leak. The third (main monolythic) cat had rusted through right after the entrance flange. I tried patching it various ways, exhaust wrap, a metallic two-part epoxy designed exactly for this problem, but nothing lasted as the rotarys exhaust gets so damn hot. I finally had to bite the big one and I bought a new cat with the split air pipe for $120. There are plenty of shady places around here that probably could have hooked me up with a straight pipe for 20% of that. I didn't go that route because I like to sleep at night. Oh, and we have NO emissions testing where I live. All they do is check your headlights, wipers, etc. They don't even open the hood.
I know rotarys are inherently dirtier compared to their boinger counterparts, but I kept her running as clean as was possible.
Call me a tree hugger, hippy, goodie-goodie, roll your eyes, whatever, I don't really care.
Shame on you all. The fact that you circumvent such a law (however minute - in your opinion) speaks volumes about your character.
Have fun losing more power on the bottom end, where these cars need it, while maybe gaining 1-2HP up top.

I Vote to change the name from "Test Pipe" to "Attempt to make the tiniest rational criticism and get labelled 'car hating left-wing hippie environmentalist who will stop at nothing to ruin everyones fun' Pipe"
I have been working in the scientific/environmental (physical oceanography/meteorology with a focus on global warming) field for 17 years, so believe me when I tell you that I realize exactly what a tiny difference in total pollution 'YOUR' test pipe makes. Pollution is a CUMULATIVE problem. Call me crazy for wanting to make any tiny POSITIVE difference I can.
Go ahead and make a NEGATIVE difference if you want, just don't try and justify it to my by pointing out its insignifigance. Every time I make a comment in one of these threads, I immediately get jumped all over with a vehemence totally out of proportion to whatever comment I made. It almost seems as if I had hit a nerve of some sort..... just something to think about.
I am just as addicted to the gasoline crack pipe as the rest of you.. I don't ride my bicycle EVERY day (though I ride it a lot) I LOVE my S2000, I'd love for it to have more power, though not at the expense of increasing it's toxic pollutant emissions by 15,000% or so. The OP asked for an opinion, I gave mine, so piss off!
Cheers, Mike

Who gives a damn about low-midrange power. That's what my 4.77 gears are for. Test pipes make power. 70mm exhausts with test pipes make over 10 rwhp. Have fun getting walked on by my car.
