Will Test pipe on a stock S2K do anything?
Well I would really like to see a test pipe actually get tested against a cat. My first car already had the cat removed and it still passed emissions (with the sniffer). Granted it was a 1979 and we have come a long way since then. I've also removed the cats on my old stang to fit the x pipe. I have to say it sounded much nicer. However the gains were no existant and the smell was unbearable.
It is interesting to note that the chemicals and heavy metals that are in the catalytic convertor are much more toxic that any NOx. These then seep into the ground and cause heavy metal polution in the soil. If the soil that we farm on is not closely tested we will injest these toxins in the food we eat. So by buying a new cat you are poluting more.
So test pipes might gain 2 hp Big F-ing deal. Even with 10 hp, how much is that going to save you on the quarter? .001 sec? You are going to gain more driving in the morning when its cooler.

I really think it makes more of a GROANing sound....Those lovely smells and crap on your bumper would be the aforementioned unburned and partially unburned hydrocarbons, Highly toxic CO, and NOx and primary components of air pollution and smog....
Yummy!
"You smell that? I love the smells of incomplete combustion processes in the morning! Smells like VICTORY!"
Oh yeah, and until I see side by side Dyno's This claim of 18 HP is just
Or a bunch of hot exhaust gas.

Don't know why I said that, but I love the smell of catless especially in the winter. In the summer though, it does smell pretty gross at times.
Also, here is my dyno run of catless vs catted. (If you can't figure it out, the catless run made the most power). Ignore the "VAFC tuning" I decided to just get a dyno run instead and the operator never changed it. This was taken when I just had an intake and exhaust. Red line is with a cat and blue is without a cat.

Catless DOES help, end of story. I did have an intake and exhaust for what thats worth.
