you're waaay out of line on this one. i was commenting on the fact that the third poster offered unqualified advice on a potentially serious safety issue. he states "i'm sure that nothing will happen." how does HE know that nothing will happen? is he an engineer familiar with vehicular dynamics or structural integrity. probably not, as he did not offer those qualifications. notice that i used the word "usually"... this allows for exceptions. you have stated your qualifications and your opinion on the matter. if the driver towing the boat has a driveline problem, of any variety, honda may point to the hitch and deny warranty coverage. the original poster has an '03 that is going to be subject to the limitations of the factory warranty for some time to come.

jpb, I wouldn't do it either, just not worth the risk. However, I'll say that both my Jeep and truck recommend replacing the gear oil in the diff with a heavier weight if they'll be used for towing.
