Default Towing with an S2000

Hello,

I am moving now from Chicago back to SF.

I am going to drive my Honda all the way to SF, taking the time to make it also a road trip and not just a move...

Is it possible to attach a trailer to the S2000 and tow some of my belongings with me?
what is the weight limit I can tow without hurting the car?

Thanks,

David

I don't believe there is an officially rated towing weight limit for the S but plenty of autoxers tow a set of wheels/tires and tools with them to events.

Page 157 in the owners manual:

"Your vehicle is not designed to tow a
trailer. Attempting to do so can void
your warranties".

Please do a search, so we can avoid the towing holy wars.

You have already been given the short and correct answers: officially the car is not rated to tow anything, but many people have towed many things quite successfully.

IMO, the best hitch available is the one sold by Chase Race. Most of the hitch hardware is easily removable, and it requires no drilling or permanent modification of the car.

It'll tow 500+ pounds much easier than you think. I have the small Harbor Freight trailer and it probably weighs 200 pounds on it's own. Acceleration and braking obviously suffer, but it doesn't feel unsafe in any way. I am using the CHase Race hitch.

Well this is the thing, I dont wanna count on luck...

I saw the video of someone towing a boat and this is why I considered asking here.
The manufacture is taking a lot of precautions, sometimes justified sometimes not.

I will not tow all the furniture in the trailer, for this I am getting a moving company, the problem is that I cant fit anything into this car, not even the basic things I will need to have with me immediately when I arrive to SF.

There is nothing wrong with towing a small trailer with an S2000. I've done it for thousands of miles on mine.

But I now realize that you are talking about doing it for a one-time event. Dude, just ship your stuff. It will be much cheaper and easier.

Thanks for all the answers,
U haul will not rent a trailer to be towed by a car that has no hard top...

I think I am going to stuff in the trunk whatever I can and the rest will have to be shipped.

it is going to be around the same cost anyway...
