winding down in gear=using gas?

but I did not buy the S to worry too much about secondary or tertiary effects on fuel economy. Seriously, whether you rev match or not is an insiginificant effiect on MPG compared to a few shots of VTEC. If I was really worried about conserving fuel, I'd be driving a hybird. That said, all the other cars I drive average over 25 mpg, so I'm doing my part to avoid wasting Mother Earth's resources.
The S has exceptional fuel economy for a high perforrmance car. I can't believe anyone really spends time wondering if rev matching wastes fuel
So be happy, dirive, enjoy. But park the SUV permanently.
I just like to know what is going on under the hood.Don't get me wrong, I like a nice blast of high-rpm fun as much as the next guy...but I also enjoy arriving at my destination knowing that I did it as efficiently as possible. There is something about going for that "perfect drive" that I strive for. At least on my drive to and from work. Maximum fuel efficiency, using the brakes as little as possible, driving as smoothly as possible.
Nothing makes me more uncomfortable in a car than riding with an erratic driver. An on-off braker, a throttle-stabber, a steering wheel jerker. People that brake UP HILLS!!!!
For as long as I can remember, I've always focused on driving smoothly and efficiently. Again, not including the occasional VTEC romping. Minimum changes in accelerations, whether its longitudinal during braking, accelerating or shifting or lateral during lane changes and curves.
Maybe I'm an odd-ball

d'oh! I got scolded. Thanks for the idea about the ignore list...

he's seen it all, so when it gets thick in here, he tends to get some 'attitude'. As do most of us who have been around the block a few times.
your wet behind the ears post doesn't help anyone.
words of advice for you, learn some modesty.

You're gonna cry when something breaks. Dave (XViper) is the equivalient of a $10,000 s2000 coupon.
I've PMed xviper several times on both newbie and technical questions about the S 'cause based on his involvement with technical posts my insight was telling me the he knew what he was talking about- and he always is willing to lend his knowledge to a fellow S owner (a new one at that).
Modesty is one thing...but start with the basics and acquire some tact.
Doesn't surprise me that some of you guys jump on his bandwagon simply due to his 'tenure' here, but if you read his condescending post to the other guy and my response which thanked him for his knowledge but suggested his negative attitude was unnecessary, you'll see that his response was about 100 TIMES as agressive as mine coulde ever have been construed. Does he really get spun up that easily after spending YEARS on internet forums? LOL
The only thing I called him on was that seizure-inducing avatar of his; I'm sure there are thousands of others on here that wouldn't mind seeing it updated once every 3 or 4 years. wink wink....
I'll be a paid member very shortly, and I'm more than capable of enjoying & maintaining this car without the blessing of one apparently knowledgable, but obviously hotheaded, enthusiast. Life goes on.
