So in either case, the window just goes down a few inches...i have to hold the window button for it to go all the way down...the pass side goes all the down with the top down switch but not the driver's side...only a few inches...any ideas?

 

There's a TSB for this. After I got the TSB performed (Free), someone on the board found a way to "reset" the switch to make it work again. Do a search for it.
