i don't think shin-etsu will prevent it...the rubber is thinner than a strand of hair...i expect it to rip just by looking at it.

 

How much does it cost to replace? Anyone done a replacement out of pocket?

 

my my03 had the exact same thing on both sides

in the my05 i have now, it seems they beefed up that
area with thicker rubber, no problems with it ripping.
it was one of the 1st things i noticed when i got the new
car.

 

On my 2001 S, I prevented it from ripping by building up Shin Etsu grease. Kept it in new condition with no rips for 3.5 years until I traded it. But on my 05, it came torn already.. =\

Nope, it's exactly the same on the 05 as it was on the 01, except torn

 

It's pure luck. I keep my seals nice and lubed up. Still got the rip.

 

im going to look at my door and see if it is ripped.

same thing happening here, is it a big deal? water leaks, etc etc?
