Windshield Brands
update: i just got a crack on my windshield. it's a semi circle crack right behind the rear view mirror mount. i've never seen a crack that's so round before.
i can't really take a good picture of it because it's hard to see against the rear view mirror's black mounting point.
now i really wish i had it replaced before.
i talked to the guy on the phone and it already sounds like he's going to give me the run around.
this whole situation is really messed up.
guys, just avoid this place if anyone recommends it you. not only do they use cheap glass, their installation is sub par. the windshield they installed on my car isn't even centered! it's off by about 1cm to the right.... even if i do get a free replacement, i'm not sure i want them to touch my car again.
i can't believe this crap for trying to support small businesses. lesson learned, and don't repeat my mistakes please.

Based on the poor installation job they did on your s2000, I wonder if the distortion was more a result of how they installed it or the glass itself?
Safelite has replaced the windshield on a couple of my cars. On my 350z the view was noticeably distorted (when compared to the OEM windshield)towards the edges of the windshield where it curved the most. The previous owner of my S2000 had the windshield replaced by Safelite shortly before I bought the car and it looks perfect with no distortion... so it seems results may vary even with the same company and glass.
On a side note to the guys complaining about the cost of a new windshield, most insurance companies will replace your windshield either for free, or for the price of your comprehensive deductible. My insurance company will repair chips for free and will replace the windshield if there is a crack more than a few inches long for the price of my comprehensive deductible. I have a $100 comprehensive deductible, so that is the maximum I have to pay to have my windshield replaced.

i went back to get my windshield replaced and they took care of it. i paid $30 for a new seal. the windshield was centered well enough. rotating it 1-2mm would have been perfect, but it's only noticeable if you view it from the center and not from the driver or passenger seat.
almost no distortions on this new glass so i'm happy. brand is FY.
it would have been good if the edge of my dash( a few inches) and the panels ont he sides of the windsheild didn't get chewed up a few inches by the cutting machine but it's not that big of a deal. i can smooth it out with a razor blade later.
@NFRAP2: I've called safelite before and it seems they just use whatever glass brand is availible to them. In fact, they would only offer me AP Tech glass. Would you mind checking the which brand of glass do you have on you S2000?

I had my windshield replaced by Speedy Glass in Vancouver, BC, and they installed a "PGW" windshield.
The first one they put in had unbearable distortion and after I complained enough, they put in a second one.
This one was fine on distortion but then I noticed something else: the rear-view mirror is mounted so high up that you I can't get it to bend into the position I need for it to look straight back. I gave up on all this though, I'm just gonna live with it lol.
All in all I'm pretty dissatisfied. If you can bring yourself to spend the extra couple extra hundred, I'd go OEM Honda.

I vote for safelite. Just had the civic windshield replaced after 5 years of driving like someone sandblasted it, so many speckles all over, hard to see in sunny days.
Glass is smooth, trim is better than oem, took about 25 minutes and $325

I'm getting my windshield replaced AGAIN. That's what I get for living in a desert. Lots of pitting and cracked windshields for virtually all drivers due to the sand and rocks ever-present. I have full glass coverage, $0.00 deductible on glass claims (common in Arizona). The company that I called wanted to put in a generic brand that he claimed was exactly the same as the Honda OEM, just without the Honda logo. He offered a $100.00 "rebate" if I went with the generic. I agreed to no "rebate", as it is not supposed to cost me any more, so I insisted on the OEM branded glass. I have at least 3 good-sized chips, and one 8" crack now.
